What does the PillPal widget show?
The small widget: doses left, the ring, the streak. The medium widget adds the next doses with their colour chips and times, so you can see "Vitamin D3 at 8:00" without opening anything. When every dose is done, the ring goes fully gold and the count reads zero, which is the whole answer to "did I take it?"

Does the widget stay current, even at midnight?
Tapping Taken on a reminder writes the dose and refreshes the widget immediately. At midnight the widget rolls over to the new day's schedule on its own; the app does not need to be opened. If the phone was off, the next time the widget refreshes it catches up.
How do you add the PillPal widget to your home screen?
- Press and hold an empty spot on the home screen until the icons wiggle.
- Tap the plus button in the corner.
- Search for PillPal and choose the small or medium widget.
- Tap Add Widget, then Done.
Put it on the first page, ideally near the top: the value is in the glance.
Why is a glance better than another notification?
Notifications are for the moment of the dose. The widget is for the other 23 hours: the evening check, the "did I?" on the way out, the quiet satisfaction of a fully gold ring. It is the part of PillPal a plain alarm cannot replace.
PillPal is a reminder tool, not medical advice. Nothing here tells you what to take or how much; follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
Questions about the PillPal widget
Is the widget free?
Yes. The home-screen widget is part of the free tier, along with reminders, lock-screen Taken, Snooze and Skip, streaks, dose history and the 300+ medication library. The only thing an optional Premium subscription changes is the number of pills you can keep: free covers up to three, Premium removes the limit entirely.
Does the widget work on the lock screen?
Not yet. PillPal's widget comes in small and medium home-screen sizes; a lock-screen widget is not available. In practice the lock screen is already covered by the reminder itself, which appears there at dose time with the Taken, Snooze and Skip buttons, so the two surfaces do not overlap as much as they sound like they would.
Is there an Android widget?
Not yet; the widget is iOS-only for now. Android users get the same underlying information from the Today screen and from the reminder notification, which carries the same three actions. If a home-screen widget is what would make PillPal work for you on Android, say so in an email to support, because that is how the roadmap gets ordered.
